This resource supports children using NAME-it Scribble to notice when their emotions are bubbling up for emotional regulation and emotional literacy development using Planet NAME-it.

This resource is an emotions and BIG feelings check-in board and word mat that includes The Scribbles Crew.

This resource is suitable EYFS, KS1 and KS2.

How could this resource be used?

  • To support children and young people with developing personal coping strategies for dealing with big emotions and feelings.
  • To support embedding the Spot, Say and Steer framework in busy classrooms. 
  • To support using Planet NAME-it for supporting Emotional Regulation on the go as a lifelong emotional literacy skills development.
  • To give children the vocabulary to accurately notice what they are feeling in their body, share their emotions and identify ways to regulate their emotions.

  • KS1: H11 – about different feelings that humans can experience.
  • KS1: H18 – different things they can do to manage big feelings, to help calm themselves down and/or change their mood when they don’t feel good.

  • KS2: H20 – how to manage and respond to feelings appropriately and proportionately in different situations.
