'My Rainbow of Importance': What matters to me? Activity for Children (Pride LGBTQIA+ Resources)

ET-286-EP 'My Rainbow of Importance' What matters to me Activity for Children by Exciting Teacher

When it comes to identifying what truly matters in life, it can be a challenging task even for adults. But what if we give children the opportunity to explore and discover what they value the most? That’s why “My Rainbow of Importance” activity is a perfect way to help children reflect on their priorities and understand what really matters to them.

Ask them to think about the things they love, enjoy, and cherish the most. These may include family, friends, pets, hobbies, or even values like kindness and honesty. Then, have them assign a different colour to each aspect. By the end of the activity, they’ll have created a colorful rainbow that captures the essence of what matters most to them. Through this activity, kids will learn to appreciate and prioritize the things that truly matter in their lives.

How could this resource be used?

  • To support and promote what matters to us as individuals.
  • To encourage children to share their own priorities and to consider the things in their lives that are of upmost importance to them personally.
