'My Resilience Ladder': Activity for Building Growth Mindset and Facing Fears

‘My Resilience Ladder’ worksheet has been designed to support children and young people with identifying how different activities can be challenging for us.
For this resource, the idea is to start with a task that is easy to achieve. There should be a reward for the completion of each task.
The trickiest and most challenging tasks should be at the top, but the idea is that over time by completing the slightly easier tasks lower down the ladder then the trickier tasks will become easier.
You do not need to have 10 steps on the ladder and this can be adapted.
How could this resource be used?
- To support teaching on how feelings affect our bodies and behaviours.
- To support a child 1:1.
- To support children in building resilience.
- To support children to develop a growth-mindset.

England PSHE Statutory Curriculum Strands:
- KS1: H19 – to recognise when they need help with feelings; that it is important to ask for help with feelings; and how to ask for it.
- KS2: H20. strategies to respond to feelings, including intense or conflicting feelings; how to manage and respond to feelings appropriately and proportionately in different situations.
- KS2: H21. to recognise warning signs about mental health and wellbeing and how to seek support for themselves and others.
