My Feelings Radiator: BIG Feelings Scale (inspired by 5-Point-Scale)

ET-254-EP My Feelings Radiator 5-Point-Scale by Exciting Teacher

‘The Feelings Radiator’ has been designed to support children and young people with regulating their emotions inspired by the 5 Point Scale.

It emphasises that feelings are temporary and can change. The sheet encourages children and young people to identify where on the scale they are feeling and what they can do to support themselves to feel better.

Sometimes we experience BIG feelings and this is okay. We can think about describing our feelings and how in control of them we are like a radiator.

For example, when calm, we might be cool like the snowflake setting but when angry we may be more boiling hot like a 5.

Children are invited to create their own radiator with a moving scale for the dial.

How could this resource be used?

  • To support emotional regulation.
  • To support emotional literacy and identifying feelings on a scale.
  • To support a child 1:1.
